Another Summer Journey Begins...

With another summer season up and running it is always exciting to see how God will use our team. Though faces and personalities change, the vision of this ministry remains constant and we continue to see the Lord's favor in our work with the youth we come in contact with.

Many do not realize that our work together as a team starts several weeks before our first event. Every year we take time apart to reflect and prepare for the upcoming summer during our staff retreat. We spend time in discussion, prayer, meals, and games, growing closer as a group and preparing our hearts and minds for another summer season of ministry. For the past several years, part of this trip has included exploring God's creation at Ricketts Glen State Park. Witnessing the beauty of natural waterfalls being sheltered by large hemlock trees is a true testament to the majesty of our heavenly father.

For some of us, we take this hike as an opportunity to truly experience creation in a hands on kind of way...
And for others, it is an opportunity to stand back and take everything in...

But, regardless of the way we choose to "experience" the falls, we leave with the refreshing feeling that we have witnessed the beauty of God in a tangible way. We see it as a blessing to be able to participate in the work that God is already doing and are invigorated for another great summer of camps, missions, rallies, and music festivals. We hope to see you all soon!

Welcome!

The word "restore" has captured the attention of many on the SnL staff over this past year. We have experienced and witnessed the renewing work of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and the lives of many with whom we have served. God makes all things new! God restores the joy of our salvation. In the words of the Apostle Peter as written in I Peter 5:10-11, "And the God of grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever." We have been so deeply inspired with the concept of restoration that we have incorporated it into this year's Impact festival theme.

A number of people on the SnL staff have experienced suffering within the physical, emotional, vocational, and relational realm, yet God has renewed and strengthened us. God has restored or is continuing to restore us. The reason I use the word "us" is due to the fact that when "one part suffers, every part suffers with it..." From contending with cancer to battling depression, from relational twists to vocational uncertainty, we have been learning what it means to say, "my life is in you, Lord, and in you, O Lord, do I trust. " We are called, as a team of people committed to the vision of "youth reaching youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ," to serve God's purpose. We are so grateful for the privilege of service among young people and adults alike.

It is our hope that this blog will serve as an encouragement to your soul and an avenue of challenge in your daily walk with Christ. A variety of our staff will be making posts throughout the year and we welcome your comments and questions in response to our postings. You may send all comments to SNLblog@hotmail.com
